FAQ

  • Absolutely not! The units are class-compliant MIDI, plug-and-play, and all programming can be done right on-board.

However we also have an app available that runs on both Mac, Win, & Linux, to make programming your Fader that much easier, PLUS the ability to save and reload presets, backup/restore the unit, and other useful functions.

  • Yes! The onboard Fader OS software is intuitive, and you can program the unit without a computer.

Also available is a simple app for programming it on Mac, PC, or Linux.

  • No, these are high quality, passive Japanese Alps faders. Generally motorized faders are not useful when editing MIDI CC values.

  • The faders we make are all standard class compliant MIDI faders. They will work with most DAWs that read MIDI data, including:

    • Ableton

    • Cakewalk

    • Cubase/Nuendo

    • Digital Performer

    • Kontakt

    • Logic Pro

    • ProTools

    • Reaper

    • Studio One

    • Plus many more

Some DAWs may not work natively with our faders (or ANY of the common MIDI faders offered), including:

    • LUNA

    • 1010Music BlackBox

LUNA has evolved in the last couple of years so we are testing with it again.

1010Music Blackbox needs testing, so I cannot promise 100% it will work.

  • PC, Mac, or Unix will all work fine.

  • No! All the units are class-compliant MIDI, plug and play, and they do not require any drivers to work.

  • All units come with a 2-year warranty on manufacturer defects. Additionally, you have 30 days to evaluate them.

But we haven't gotten a single return yet ;)

  • While MIDI 2.0 spec has been around now for a few years, it will still be some time (a few more years likely) before it's widely adopted or implemented.

Our units are MIDI 1.0 compliant, but when MIDI 2.0 does hit the scene in a big way, be assured that they will be compatible with MIDI 2.0 100%, as MIDI 2.0 is backward compatible.

  • We want you to be thrilled with your faders! If for some reason you're not, you have a full 60 days to return a unit to us.

See our returns page for details.

  • First, don't panic! It's probably just the cable. If you use a USB-C to USB-C cable, it won't power up.

Totally inconvenient! I know! I have solved this issue with a new internal cable, and you can contact me to obtain one for free (just pay shipping).

In the meantime, use the USB-A to USB-C cable provided with the unit, and you'll be fine.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then of course please contact me for further support.

  • I go into detail on this on the Manufacturing Time page, but the short answer is: the units are “built-to-order.” That means I start making your unit when you order. I don’t keep stock of dozens or hundreds of them, because I make them myself, one-at-a-time, and I have a “day” job too.

At some point the units may be made in a factory by the hundreds, but until then, I turn every screw, solder every joint, program every line of code, assemble every unit by hand, test them, ship them, and handle the business, all by myself.

Please understand this when ordering so you are prepared to wait for your unit to be built. Thank you.

NOTE: for Special Edition (SE) firmwares, which applies to Fader Premiums and Fader Presidentials, please DO NOT use the app below - please visit this page for the SE version of the app!

**********

There is a brand new app for your fader called the Scene Editor that is available on Mac, PC, and Linuxmint.

With the app, you can:

  • Change all major aspects of your scenes, from the scene name, to CC numbers and names, to fader ranges, MIDI channels, and more.

  • The app does not do device-specific configurations like editing color themes, changing screensavers, switching views, etc.

  • You do not need the app to program the unit!

  • You will need to upgrade your firmware to 6.x, and you can download the firmware above.

  • For details on the current version, click here.

Instructions:

  • Download the correct version for your OS below.

  • By downloading the app, you agree to the EULA included in the folder or with the app.

*Mac Error Message

A Macintosh error message that states "The file is downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"
  • Click Open. The file is safe!

  • I am an official Apple developer, and this is the default message all Mac apps show unless you download from the App Store.
